Context
Abigail was born in the Netherlands, almost certainly in the Leiden community of English Separatists — the same religious group that would send the Mayflower to the New World the following year. She came to Plymouth Colony as a child with her family around 1623.
She married Henry Wood, another early settler from Norwich, England. Their son David Wood was born in Middleborough, Massachusetts in 1651, establishing a family line in Plymouth Colony that would continue for centuries.
