Plymouth Colony

John Jenny (also spelled Jenney, Jennie) arrived in Plymouth Colony around 1623 on the ship Little James — just three years after the Mayflower landed in 1620. While not technically a Mayflower passenger, he was among the very first wave of settlers to join the Plymouth plantation.

Jenny became a prominent citizen of the colony. Historical records indicate he operated one of the earliest grist mills in Plymouth, grinding corn for the colonists. He served in various civic roles in the young settlement.

His time in the Netherlands — where his daughter Abigail was born in 1619 — connects him to the Leiden Separatist community, the same group of English religious dissenters who organized the Mayflower voyage.
